Re; A Hero’s New Life in a New World!
Chapter 6 — “Despair and Treachery”
Arc 1 Finale
“Not Satella… but Emilia.”
Subaru couldn’t help but smile. He was finally able to achieve the name of the silver-haired Half-elf girl. All the pain he went through, such as being embarrassed in public, having his back literally stabbed, and getting his insides pulled out of his body, was just to find out her name.
“This happy ending isn’t fair,” he said to himself while smiling.
The Half-elf girl—Emilia, turned to Justice, who was still shocked as to why Subaru merely wanted to learn the girl’s name, when he could’ve asked for anything else, like learning how he could go back to his own world, for example.
“Um… Justice, was it?”
“Yeah?”
“I just wanted to thank you for basically saving me. What do you need? I want to at least pay you back.”
“All I need is just some rest,” he told her while chuckling.
“I can allow you to rest at my place, I’m sure no one would mind, but… is that really all you want?”
“Yep. Since I’m Subaru’s bodyguard, I’m satisfied when he’s satisfied. Right now, he seems to be pretty content with knowing your name, so I guess I should be content as well.”
“You two sure are strange,” Emilia said while giving both Subaru and Justice a wry smile.
“Even if they are strange, we should be glad that everyone is safe,” Reinhard said while picking up Rom’s large nail-embedded club. “In fact, because of this weapon, Subaru and Ms. Emilia were able to survi—”
When Reinhard lifted up the club, he realized that it was cleanly cut in a diagonal fashion. Subaru looked at his tracksuit, specifically the area which was covering his abdomen. The tracksuit appeared to be cut, so did the skin under it.
“Uh oh.”
A large amount of blood began to spray out of the cut on his abdomen. He started to fall backward, with the large amount of blood continuing to spray out of the cut.
“Subaru!”
Emilia had screamed before running towards him, Justice and Reinhard not far behind.
“Just finished healing him.”
Emilia said as she stood up. She had finally finished healing Subaru with her Ice Magic.
“Justice, I’ll be taking Subaru with me to my place of residence, so he’ll have a place to stay for a bit.”
“Alright.”
“You said that you needed a place to rest, as well, right? I’ll be glad to take you along with me. Also, since you’re Subaru’s bodyguard, you wouldn’t be doing a good job, if you’re away from the person you’re protecting, right?”
“Alright,” Justice said once again, as he gave Emilia a thumbs up.
“I’d be happy to allow these two to live with me, in my family’s place of residence, if taking them to your place is too much trouble,” Reinhard said.
“I could invite them to live with me as well, if it’s too much of a problem for you, Ms. Emilia. My Magic Knights squad would be ecstatic if more people were to join our squad.”
“Thank you for the offer, Reinhard, Vanessa, but I want to personally thank these guys.”
“I understand,” Reinhard said, while nodding. “Me too,” said Vanessa.
“What’ll happen to those two?” Justice asked. The four glanced at Felt, who was crouching near the motionless Rom with a depressed expression on her face. Vanessa chuckled a bit before saying anything.
“Although they committed a crime, I’m off duty today, so I really can’t take that much action against those two. It’s all really up to Reinhard.”
The four looked at Reinhard, who merely smiled and shrugged as his response. Emilia walked up to the two. She crouched down to Felt’s level.
“Is he a family member?”
“Y…Yeah. He’s kind of like a grandpa to me. He’s all I have…”
“Ah.”
Emilia’s calm smile made Felt feel at least a little happy. She reached for her pocket, got the insignia out of there. “Here,” she said. “Next time, hide it better, so no one else has the chance to steal it.”
“Thank you, but you should stop stealing stuff. In the future, you could get into real serious stuff.”
“No.”
Felt got the insignia out of her pocket and was about to hand it to Emilia. The jewel in the middle of the insignia began to glow red. Reinhard was the only one to notice this. He grabbed Felt’s arm before she could hand over the insignia to its original owner, Emilia.
“H—Hey! Let go! That hurts!”
“I don’t believe it… What’s your name?”
“F—Felt.”
“Surname? How old are you?”
“I don’t know my surname; I’m an orphan… and I think I’m fifteen.”
“—You’re coming with me.”
“Hell no—!”
Reinhard extended the palm of his hand to her. Her body went limp, as he had drained the Mana in her body. Before she could collapse, he caught her, lifted her up, and caught her in a bridal position. Justice took one step, faced Reinhard, and grabbed the sheath of his sword, which was now in the scabbard on his hip.
“Where are you taking her, Reinhard?”
Behind Justice, was Vanessa, who managed to create a few threads from the remaining amount of Mana she had left in her body. She fully intended to support Justice, if they were to take Reinhard on, in a battle.
“I’m sorry, Justice. Thing’s have changed. I’m going to ask you to please understand.”
He let go of the sheath of the sword.
“Will she at least be fine?”
“Yes. You don’t need to be worried; no harm will be placed on her, whatsoever.”
“Good.”
Reinhard stared at the night sky—specifically at the moon, gleaming in the sky.
“This may be the last time we can look at the moon and be at ease…”
A carriage which was being pulled by a “Ground Dragon” arrived in front of the Loot House. Justice was intrigued by the animal, as there were a similar species of Dragon in his own world. Emilia opened the carriage door and got in it. Vanessa and Justice helped the unconscious Subaru get into there as well.
A pink-haired girl, who was wearing a maid outfit, approached Justice and Vanessa and gave both of them a polite bow. “Dear honored sirs, and madam,” she said. “In place of my master, I must thank you three and the boy over there for saving Emilia-sama.”
“Ah, no thanks are needed. We just did what we had to do.”
“Very well, sir. I assume you shall travel with us?”
“Yeah.”
Justice walked up to Reinhard, who still had the unconscious Felt in his arms, and extended his hand. “Thank you for helping us, Reinhard.” Reinhard and Justice then shook each others’ arms. “No problem, Justice. Make sure to stay safe.”
“Right,” he said, as he turned to Vanessa. “Vanessa, you don’t know how grateful I am to you. Thank you for everything you’ve done. Hopefully, I’ll be able to repay you, the next time we meet.”
“Well,” she said, as she closed one eye. “You can pay me back by returning to the Capital, soon.”
“Alright.”
Justice got inside the carriage. A few seconds later, the carriage began to move. Their next stop would be Emilia’s place of residence.
“Crap, crap, crap!”
A girl was running down the street of a city. It was pretty dark outside, which was why most people stayed in the comfort of their own homes, causing the street to become empty. Knights that were supposed to be patrolling the city were all mysteriously murdered.
The girl had long violet-colored hair which went a little bit past her hips, as well as violet-colored eyes. She wore a dress—that had a blue and white pattern on it—which went up to her hips. She had thigh-high white boots that split at the collar, creating a ‘V’ shape, white gloves with a pink line on the ends, and a mage’s robe which she wore as a cape.
It covered her rear end and a small portion of her arms. She had a pink ribbon tied to the collar of her dress. On the pink ribbon was a pendant, with an oval-shaped pink jewel encrusted in the middle. Finally, she carried a long staff with her, which had a magic circle in the end.
“Today is such a bad day! First, I get transported to a random new world, I’m supposed to protect some random person who I don’t even know! I just witnessed a murder, and now, two weird guys are chasing me!”
A man lands in front of her, making her stop running that direction. The man yawns. “Calm down, pretty lady. We’re not going to kill you, we just need the stone on your pendant.”
He was a young man with a red tattoo on his left cheek and patches of white hair in his messy black hair. He appeared to have a very tired expression. He had a dark-teal colored scarf on his neck. He wore a white, hooded cloak, with black covering half the shoulders and down the middle.
The cloak has three vertical eyes on the chest with a sphere on the sides of each eye and on top of the highest eye. The design also has a line on the bottom-most eye that made it look like a key. His ears appeared to be pointed.
“My jewel?”
“Yes.”
“…Too bad!”
She stuck her tongue out at him and started to run away the other direction. Another man landed in front of her.
He was a tall, very muscular man, with long blond hair and a red tattoo that moves horizontally across his face under his eyes and over the bridge of his nose. He has a rather beast-like appearence, which scared the girl. He also had sharp teeth and a blond beard. His outfit of a short-sleeved vest, light colored pants, and a pair of sandals.
He wore a necklace with three blue claws on it. He was very bulky, compared to the other man. His chest was rather large and had blonde chest-hair on it, he had a six pack, and more blonde-hair underneath his abs, around his belly button. His ears were pointy.
“Just hand over the stone, and we won’t harm ya’… unless ya’ want to face despair.”
There was a man in the direction behind her, and in the direction in front of her. On her left side was a giant pool of water, and on her right side was an alleyway. Of all her options, she took the safest route—which would be running into the dark alleyway.
As she was running, she realized something.
“—What?! It’s a dead end!”
She turned around and saw the two men.
“…I guess I have no other option.”
Her staff began to glow and she had a grimoire in her hands. “If we’re going to fight, we should at least know each others’ names.” The black-haired man yawned, as he created a katana that was shrouded in darkness, from thin air.
“I’m Aisha, Aisha Landar. And, you two?”

“I’m Rhya, the Treachery.”

“I’m Vetto, the Despair.”

“[Ice Magic]: Zora Bendo! [Mineral Magic]: Gine Yun!”
Aisha used her staff to fire crystals made out of ice at her opponents, while simultaneously creating minerals that fly out of the ground, and fly straight towards the two men in front of her. Rhya merely smirked at this.
“[Imitation Dark Magic]: Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash!”
He released a dark slash from his blade, that managed to neutralize the incoming icicles and minerals. “Say, Aisha,” he said. “You wouldn’t have the Divine Protection of Sorcery, would you? Or are you only able to use two types of Magic?”
“I don’t know what that is, but I do know more than two types of Magic. [Metal Magic]: Senkan no Gekisou!”
The violet-haired girl got onto her knees, and swiftly put a hand onto the ground. A huge lance with a spiral head was then summoned. As she launched it towards Rhya and Vetto, it began to rotate at high speed. “[Imitation Dark Magic]…” He said. “Dark Cloaked Black Blade!”
He swung the katana in his hands, in a downwards fashion. Due to the spell, the katana’s reach was greatly extended. The lance was cut in half. However, the lance wasn’t the only thing which was cut. The ground leading up to Aisha, as well as the wall next to her, was cut.
The attack had missed her, by a few inches.
“Just as I thought. You do have the Divine Protection of Sorcery.” He shrugged. “…Though, you don’t know the same type of Magic as Roswaal L. Mathers does. He’s able to use the 5 elemental magics as well as Soul Magic.”
“I have a Divine Protection? I knew something felt a little bit off ever since I got here,” she thought to herself.
“—Meanwhile, you are able to use Solar, Pressure, Metal, Wood, Vapour, and Aether Magic.”
“How do you know that?!”
“I can read Mana. It’s as simple as that.”
“Ah. I didn’t know Dark Magic users were able to do that.”
“I don’t use Dark Magic. I use Imitation Magic. Most of the spells I know, are from Roswaal L. Mathers, but not my Dark Magic. Since Roswaal is able to use Yin Magic, not Dark.”
“Who is Roswaal?”
“The strongest mage in this Kingdom. If you have a question about Magic, he probably knows the answer.”
“He must know how I can return to my own world then…!”
She pointed her staff at them. “Can you two show me where he is?” she asked. “Only if ya’ give us the stone on that ribbon on your neck, we will,” Vetto responded. Aisha smiled. She grasped the pendant on the ribbon which was on her collar. “Then I guess I’ll have to find out where he is by myself.”
She extended her hand at Rhya.
“[Ice Magic]: Tengeki Hyoga!”
A large chunk of spiked ice appeared from the ground and began to head straight for Rhya, who was simply standing still and was smiling.
“[Imitation Compass Magic]: Willful Compass.”
Rhya created a large compass in front of him. The compass’ needle was pointing to a different direction, which caused the large chunk of spiked ice to miss Rhya, and hit the wall next to him. Vetto extended his arms to his sides. They were then surrounded with an orange aura.
He charged towards Aisha, who—like Rhya—smiled at this. “[Vapour Magic]: Mayoi no Murin!” Aisha practically exploded with vapour. Mist enveloped the entire alleyway, hiding the girl from view. It also hid her Mana Presence so neither Rhya nor Vetto could try to sense her.
She flew up into the air and began to fly away into a different direction from them. “[Imitation Wind Magic]: Towering Tornado.” Rhya created a tornado which then dealt with all of the mist. They see Aisha flying away. “Let’s go, Rhya,” Vetto said before jumping. However, Rhy stops him.
“Let’s just tell Patolli that we didn’t find anything. I have a feeling that we’ll meet that lady again in the future. And, when we do, let’s rip the stone off of that pendant.”
After she managed to get away from the men, she sat on top of a roof. She stared at the moon, illuminating in the night sky, while providing its dazzling light to the earth, at the same time.
“Those two were scarily powerful, sheesh. Their Mana was overflowing within them. I don’t think I’d be able to take them on by myself.”
She sighed.
“But still, they did provide me with useful information.”
She continued to stare at the moon. She grasped the pendant on her necklace as hard as she could. Even then, no cracks would be placed upon the jewel.
“Roswaal L. Mathers, huh? All I need to know from him, is how to get back home. I don’t like this world, no matter how similar it is to my own, and I never will like it. But, Ara, I promise you, I will come back to you.”
Before she realized it, tears began to flow out of her eyes, to her cheeks. While looking at the beautiful sky, she would wipe her violet eyes.

Author’s Comment
Wooooooh, finally finished Arc 1! This is the last Chapter for this Arc, so now, we can finally witness Return by Death in action (in Arc 2, lol)! Not going to lie, but while I was working on this Chapter, I was considering making another Chapter, specifically for Aisha’s introduction, and stuff like that.
Ah, yes, speaking of Aisha, she is also from another world, if you weren’t paying attention. And, yes, Justice and her, originate from the same world, though, they have never met each other, because of their social status differences. She will play an important role in this series, as well as be a romantic interest for a certain character.
Christmas break for me is starting in a couple weeks—which means that I’ll finally have a break from the ever-so-silently-killing college—so make sure to expect more Chapters with better quality being produced very soon. Ram, Beatrice, and other characters will be waiting for you, next chapter.
So, Until Next Time!
